Stony Stratford Bowling Club was formed as a mens bowling club in 1923, and started playing on the present site in 1924.
A separate ladies section was formed in 1978, eventually becoming a mixed club in 1998. We now have over a 100 active playing members.
Several members have become County Finalists and won through to play in the All England Finals at Leamington
The club is frequently in the County Finals for both the Men’s Bucks Cup and the Ladies’ Trundell Trophy, having won both in recent years.
We have a very busy calendar, “Friendly Fixtures” being arranged for the Ladies on most Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Mixed or Men’s games on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
As well as playing in friendlies for the club, most members also compete in club and county competitions. We frequently host county games for Buckinghamshire, and many of the men and the ladies are county players.
SSBC has a growing junior section for boys and girls over 8 years of age. We are still seeking new members as we grow over the next few years as part of our Development Plan.
Do you want to try the sport of bowls? FREE COACHING and training is provided (lots of spare equipment available for use ) by accredited coaches. Typically three to four coaching sessions will qualify you to get out on the green and play bowls.
This year (2023) is our Centenary year and we have some great events and matches arranged.
SSBC Open Day is to be held on Monday the 1st of May 2023. All are welcome to come along to try out an introductory session on our bowls green.
