SSBC Covid update

The roll ups that were made available daily during the open season were well attended and the booking-in system worked well. Everyone followed the instructions to spray the mats and jacks before and after play.  The disabled toilet is available for members use and we have provided hand wash, sanitiser etc.  The measures we implemented as per Government, BE guidance have kept our members safe.  The Antibacterial Fogger we purchased is used before and after any attendances at the club, and we have kept a log of use.

We were able to hold some internal competitions which were welcomed by the members’  (approx. 30 attendees).  We have opened the clubhouse and bar on the competition days.  The bar has a Perspex screen in place. We have facilitated a signing in system of all attendees as required for the purposes of track and trace.  We have approximately 20 members attending the club for a Friday social evening.  Obviously we cannot yet play cards or board games but it is good to sit socially distanced and chat. We are now complying with the latest measures and closing at 10pm.

Our Chairman John Lonergan wrote an email which was circulated by email on 14th September 2020 to all members regarding our plans this year for the AGM.  This pointed out that the existing Club Officers were prepared to continue in their existing roles going into 2021.  However all members were informed in John’s email that they are able to put their names forward for any of these positions if they so wish.  We have also asked for nominations for Men’s Captain, Vice Captain, Men’s selectors, and a Committee Member.   To date we have received one response from Peter French putting his name forward for the Committee.  He asked it be noted that his input would be dependent on any County President commitments.  Peter also asked me to convey his thanks and appreciation to the people who have kept the club running during these tough times.

It was agreed at the BBA zoom meeting on 12th October 2020 that the County AGM would be postponed until April 2021 (circumstances permitting).

The BBA will be issuing county competition entry forms for 2021 during November 2020.  The closing date for entries is 1st February 2021.

Bowls England Competition Portal is now available at  Deadline for entries is 1st March 2021.

The BBA Annual return will be sent out in January 2021.

We have received the Buckinghamshire League application forms for 2021.  These need to be completed and returned by 16th December 2020.

We have to plan for 2021 in the hope that we will have some return to normality.
