Club Competitions

The Club and Ladies Captain will manage the Club Competitions. Entry to these competitions will be open to all full members of the club. To enter a Club Competition you would need to complete the official entry form which will be displayed on the club noticeboard and pay the associated entry fee.

Players entering Club Competitions must be available for the finals weekend, which is normally the 3rd weekend in September. The draw will be made and completion dates will be set for each round. Format Games will be played in accordance with the rules set by The World Bowls Board and in compliance with the bye-laws and regulations currently laid down by Bowls England.

There are ladies, men's and mixed competitions which include:

  • 2 wood pairs
  • 4 wood pairs
  • Handicap Singles
  • Open Mixed Singles
  • Championship Singles
  • Divorce Stakes
  • Seniors Trophy
  • First Trophy (Bert Holland Trophy)

and many more.

Match Arrangements - The challenger (being the first name on the competition draw sheet) is responsible for contacting their opponent and agreeing a mutually convenient time to play the match which must be completed by the “play by date”. If any player fails to appear and be ready to play within 30 minutes of the agreed time, the opponents can claim a “walkover”. No alteration of an accepted date can be made, unless mutually agreed.

In the case of single matches the challenger is responsible for arranging a marker for the match. Scorecards are to be handed in to the relevant Captain.
