Maintenance Works 2025
December 2024
A new concrete base with damp proofing was constructed for the equipment shed in the weeks leading up to Christmas 2024 by Peter Almond, Ken Greenhall & Richard Brown with assistance from Stuart Gee, Norman Robinson and Viv Dindol. This was done in order to raise the shed above the flood line. The equipment shed was emptied and dismantled.
January – March 2025
On 6th / 7th January 2025 a sturdy timber framework was built onto the wall which was then re-clad with the materials recovered from the dismantled shed. A larger door opening of 1.9m by 1.2m was created and new doors were made. A new roof was built and new felt was applied. All the equipment was then moved back into the shed. The shed was painted by Ken Greenhall & Richard Brown, assisted by Martin Parker in the spring in time for the start of the new season. A light duty artificial grass floor covering was added in March 2025.
The relocation of the equipment shed was necessary to enable both of the steel workshop container doors to be opened fully to allow the newly acquired green ironer to be securely stored.
In preparation for the power supply moves, the wall next to the fire exit was extended in January 2025 by Peter Almond, the electricity meter was moved in February 2025 and a trench was dug on 7th March by Peter Almond, Ken Greenhall, Richard Brown, Stuart Gee, Dave Wallace, John Miller, Norman Robinson and Viv Dindol, to lay the new gas pipe into. SGN carried out the works to reposition the gas meter on 14th March 2025 and ABLE Plumbing reconnected the internal gas supply that same day.
In March 2025 Peter Almond dismantled the existing front clubhouse steps and rebuilt them with an extra one in order to reduce the rise of each step and make it easier to use. The steps were also reduced in width and a veranda was created with a front retaining wall. New coping stones and handrails were installed to match in with the existing ones. The alterations to the steps began on Friday 14th March 2025 and were completed on Thursday 27th March 2025 in time for the start of the season.
